New Roommate

New Roommate
Last week, I changed my roommate. Hudson Tucker is not my roommate any more. My new roommate is Elson Zhang. He is one of my best friends in the school.
Someone will ask why Hudson changed room and lived with Chandler. Maybe someone thinks we don’t like each other or our habits are different. But my answer is no, I don’t agree with that. Actually, Hudson and I have a perfect relationship, but Chandler Vargas, who was the roommate with Elson before thought when I played a mobile game called PUBG with Elson in his room was too loud. He told Mr. Barrett about that and he said we had a different game choice with him and Hudson, finally Elson moved to my room and Hudson left to his room.
Elson is a really good roommate, he cleans the room every day. Sometimes he can help me on my Biology homework. We have almost the same habits, we often play PUBG in the room, and nobody will think we are loud any more.

I think living with Elson is better than living with Hudson though I also like Hudson. I am looking forward to living with him for the entire school year. We decide to be suitemate next year. I hope we can have a good time as roommate, and as suitemate next year!

Sugar

Sugar
Over the past decade, thanks largely to the enormous changes of health, an increasing number of people are concerned about the fitness of students. Although some people claim that students should have a choice in what they drink in school’s cafeteria, I, however strongly believe that school cafeterias should stop selling soft drinks and other high-sugar drinks.
Stop drinking soft drinks and other high-sugar drinks is a reasonable choice for students to keep their body in a good shape. The primary reason for this is that there are some students in our school are really unhealthy and fat because they drink a lot of high-sugar drinks every day and they never do any sports. The way to solve this problem is to drink more water instead of drinking high-sugar soft drinks and do some sports in that it makes them healthy.
This can be best illustrated with the example of my best friend Tommy Wang. Tommy has been my friend since primary school, we know each other for a very long time. When he was in fifth grade, he was a very fat and unhealthy boy in his class because he liked drinking high-sugar soft drinks, such as Coke, Sprite, and Fanta and so on. All of his classmates laughed at him and made fun of him which made him very depressed. After that, he aspired to reduce his fat by drinking more waters than other drinks. He started to not buy soft drinks from the cafeteria in the school. He made a plan that he needed to drink 5 bottles of water and do some exercise every day. By virtue of doing that, he became really strong and fit, all his classmates changed their altitude to him. Now he is one of my healthiest and strongest friends. Similar examples abound, evidently revealing that high-sugar soft drinks are harmful for one’s health. students in the school need to control themselves to not drink soft drinks is a good vehicle for them to keep their health.

To sum up, though the advantages of that students should have a choice in what they drink in school’s cafeteria enjoys are considerable, they cannot compete with the benefits that school cafeterias should stop selling soft drinks and other high-sugar drinks brings about, when health is taken into consideration.

My Spring Break

My Spring Break
This spring break I went back to my hometown, Shanghai. I really enjoyed it. I really missed my home and my family.
The first thing I did in China was eating. I ate a lot of Chinese food, such as Sichuan hot pot, Chinese Grill, Nanjing duck soup, and wonton. They were so delicious and tasty! I almost ate them every day. I think if you come to China, your stomach will also get in love with the food.
Second, I visited Tony Wei. He is one of my best friends in the Webb School. My parents and I had a dinner with his parents and him in a restaurant beside the Huangpu River. His mother told me that this restaurant is the best in Shanghai. The restaurant is a really famous restaurant. Its decoration is very old, but our food there makes us feel really amusing and relaxed.
Third, I traveled to Nanjing with my parents. We took about 4 hours to get there by car. Nanjing is the main city in Jangsu Province. It was one of the historical cities in China. It was the capital city of China in Ming dynasty. I visited the Zhongshan Tomb, the Presidential Palace, and the Temple of Confucious. On the way to the Presidential Palace, a taxi driver told us that although she was a person from Nanjing, but she thought a lot of people from Nanjing thought the city is not a really nice city.  Her words made me laughing, but I also thought the city is not really beautiful as I thought. I think no one likes the city even their people think the city is terrible.

This is what did during spring break. I had a lot of fun!

The Spring Festival

The Spring Festival
The Spring Festival is one of the most important and famous festivals in China. My favorite festival is also the Spring Festival because I can meet with all my families and we play together, eat together, and also get pocket money together.
The Spring Festival in Chinese called “Guo Nian”. There is an old story about it, “Nian” was a monster in the ancient China. In January and February, “Nian” would come to attack some villages and eat people. People were all afraid of it. One day, an intelligent person said that maybe “Nian” was scared about noise and red color. So they put red paper on their door, wear red clothes, and play firecrackers when “Nian” came to attack them. “Nian” was too scared about that, he left and never came back again. Because of that, people celebrated this event at that time by putting red things in their home and playing fireworks on that day. Now it becomes the Chinese New Year. We can also it called the Spring Festival.
This year, I didn’t celebrate the Spring Festival with my families. I celebrated the Spring Festival by having a formal dinner with all the Chinese students and some teachers in my school. Mrs. Berzinkas ordered all the food and arranged all the things for the dinner, such as she bought all the decorations, plates, chopsticks, fireworks and some traditional Chinese drinks. It was so nice, and the food was really tasty. Also, Mrs. Carmen Greenburg gave each of the Chinese students a red envelope for celebrating the Chinese New Year. I really appreciated about that. After the dinner, we watched fireworks together, it was so good!
I really want to thank all the teachers, especially Mrs. Berzinkas and her family to provide all the Chinese students a chance to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and let us feel warm on that day. I wish all the teachers and students will do better in 2018.

My New Year resolution is to have a good grade, to make progress on my tennis skill, and to make more friends. I truly believe that I will do better and make a tremendous success in 2018, the year of dog.

Christmas Break(fixed)

Christmas Break
This Christmas break I went back to my hometown, Shanghai. I really enjoyed the two and half weeks in China. I really missed my home and my family.
The first thing I did in China was eating. I ate a lot of Chinese food, such as Chinese hot pot, Chinese Grill, Chinese Ramen, and wonton. They were so delicious and tasty!
Second, I visited my grandparents and I had a family dinner with my grandparents and my aunt’s family. They missed me a lot because I would not celebrate the Spring Festival with them, so they gave me pocket money for Chinese New Year earlier. My aunt gave me 500 dollars, my uncle gave me 1000 dollars and my grandparents gave me 10000 Chinese yuan. I was so happy that day!
Third, I traveled to Sanya with my parents. Sanya is a city on Hainan Island in China. Hainan Island is at the south part of China. It is a tropical place, so it was very warm there in winter. I enjoyed the weather there. I also swam in the swimming pool and ate some seafood and tropical fruits, such as mango and coconut. I had fun there with my parents.
At last, I celebrated the New Year with my family, I wish I can do better than the year of 2017, and get good grades and do well on sports. I believe I will be successful in 2018!
